Job Vacancy – Assistant Clerk to the Council

Location: Mostly working from home but attendance at some meetings and other visits to Church Lawton are required. A laptop and printer will be provided.
Hours: 25 hours per month worked flexibly with occasional evening and very occasional weekend work.
Rate: SCP 7 to 14 depending on experience (£12.63 to £14.45 per hour) pro rata based on a 37-hour working week.
Reporting to: Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer.

Church Lawton Parish Council invite applications to join our small team to fulfil the role of assistant clerk. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person with a positive attitude and a desire to learn and develop.

This very varied role will entail supporting the Clerk with the administration of the Council including preparation and circulation of agendas and minutes, maintaining the website and social media, assisting with the Council’s finances and helping to progress work in the community.

The role holder will also become familiar with the running of Lawton Memorial Hall, of which the Council is sole trustee, and will be trained to support the administration assistant at the hall to be able to provide absence and holiday cover to this role.

Full training will be given in all aspects of the position. The successful candidate will be expected to have a high level of IT literacy and to either hold the Certificate in Local Council Administration (CILCA) or be willing to undertake to work towards this qualification.
